For
thus the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel, has
said, “In repentance and rest you will be saved, In quietness and trust is your strength.” But you were not willing, Isa 30:15
Ps 62:1 (yesterday’s verse) said we are to wait
quietly for the Lord to bring us victory. Today’s verse reiterates that theme
of quietness.
It is so hard to have a
quiet heart isn’t it? Especially during times of real suffering or pain. It can
be hard to maintain a trusting heart before God when nothing He is doing seems to make sense.
And yet these two
qualities, quietness and trust are the stars of the show in challenging
times. People will look at you and
wonder how you can possible be peaceful when your world is rocked by suffering.
This verse tells us of the importance of having a clean conscience before God
and to rest there with a heart of quietness and trust for God to save you and
give you the strength to go on.
