I know it's been a long time between posts. Not much has really happened. I spent a week at my dad's last week and had a nice time. I recently was put on a pain med called Diclofenac which is a supercharged NSAID especially for RA. And almost immediately I saw results. Sadly, it does not lessen the damage being done to my joints and organs. But it does help manage the pain and for me that is huge. I can't get opioids (who can these days?) and none of the other options like Torodol or Plaquinil do anything at all for me.
This med has mostly been of benefit to my ankles which were the bugaboos that kept me home-bound and needing crutches to take even one step. Sadly the med doesn't not appear to help my back pain...although it is possible that my neck is doing a little better. Today I walked into the kitchen without my crutches and made some brownies. Now this brownie mix has been in the cupboard, a silent rebuke to my inability to expend any energy at all because motion = pain. I accused myself of being lazy...but that really wasn't in play at all. Because the second I feel a little better, I'm pushing the envelope and seeing how much I can do.
I did have two days this week where the pain in my feet/ankles was mind blowing and I couldn't stand up at all...So it is not any kind of cure or even a reliable benefit. But if it can give me a good day here and there, if I can have a bit of freedom from my recliner, I will gratefully accept the limitations.
I'm still working on memorizing James. I'm about a third of the way through Chapter 1. It's a long chapter and I'm going at the slow pace of one verse per day. But I will persist. I find I'm able to use my Bible Memory App to help me learn the new verse of the day and then it allows me to review the entire chapter all in one shot. It lets me know when I've made a mistake and it keeps "score" and if you get 90% or higher that is considered acceptable.
I guess that about covers what is new for me. Thank you for keeping me in your prayers.
Blessings!
