Rom. 8:28 And we know that God causes all things to work together for
good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His
purpose
We as a family are facing a number of potentially devastating situations. And I was pondering how sometimes God doesn't part the seas but rather teaches us to swim. And we need to have "big-girl faith" and go where he leads, trusting in his goodness. The verse above is often quoted but the second part of the sentence always kind of confused me, but today I think I'm beginning to understand.

It means that, when God wants to do something in my life, even if it is
something I don't want or which scares me--I am CALLED, dedicated to
God having his way in my life. It means that in that beach as he goes
ahead of me, I must follow, stepping in his footprints. Two beings. One
purpose; One direction. And it is then and only then that we can
expect him to work things for our good and benefit.
