Like a Shepherd in his Tent

I love learning new Hebrew words--the Bible opens up wide when we can learn the depths of the meaning hidden in the original language.
But my prayer, in righteousness, is to see your face; on waking, may I be satisfied with a vision of you. Ps. 17:1
The Hebrew goes something like: I in righteousness I will look on Your face; I shall be satisfied when I awaken.
Strong's Number H6974 matches the Hebrew קוּץ (quwts), (pronounced "Koots")
which occurs 22 times in 21 verses in the Hebrew concordance of the KJV
Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake H6974 and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.
It shall even be as when an hungry man dreameth, and, behold, he eateth; but he awaketh, H6974 and his soul is empty: or as when a thirsty man dreameth, and, behold, he drinketh; but he awaketh, H6974 and, behold, he is faint, and his soul hath appetite: so shall the multitude of all the nations be, that fight against mount Zion.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

You are deceived--dreaming of food and drink and awakening to the fact that you are hungry.   It is to not recognize your need and to be satisfied with your self deceit. What opens our eyes to our complete bankruptcy of soul?  It is the work of God's Spirit

The need is that you be awakened to your need, that you have awareness of who and what you  are and what is your destination. And then once you are conscious of God, he does a spiritual awakening and injects new life, excitement. It is how to be satisfied once you know your need (awaken)? It is by viewing and reflecting on the face of  that we are awaken by God and He alerts us to danger.  The need is for vigilance and alertness and to allow God to arouse and excite you--gaze on his face and awake to satisfaction and the fulfillment of your need, the slacking of you thirst.
Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
An end is come, the end is come: it watcheth H6974 for thee; behold, it is come.
Websters: not sleeping or lethargic, roused from sleep . vigilant, alert
AWAKE: as to "awake to danger," to come out of a sleeplike state, give new life; to stir up.
 AWAKEN:  arouse, excite, call forth

As we see in this passage and in one previous one, our enemies are alert and "stirred up." And so must we be if there is any hope for us.  The solution? Not sharping our knives, but it lies in a humble recognition of our complete bankrupcy...we are poor, naked and blind.  It requires that we see us as God sees us

O my forgetful soul
Awake from thy wandering dream;
turn from chasing vanities
Look inward, upward, forward
view thyself
reflect upon thyself
who  and what thou art and why here,
     what thou soon must be.
Thou art a creature of God,
    formed and furnished by him
lodged in  a body like a shepherd in his tent
Dost thou not desire to know God's ways?
